About Clearly Tech
The misconceptions and outright lies are everywhere in the technology space.
The intricate misdirection. The subtle sidestepping of questions. The vague assurances and carefully crafted PR speak. After more than 15 years as a freelance journalist covering technology, I’ve (mostly) seen them all.
Then there’s also the misunderstanding born of an incomplete grasp of the technical complexities and nuances involved. Between the blatant self-aggrandising and the genuine confusion, valuable nuggets often get lost in the cacophony.
And readers are left not having learned much beyond corporate jargon and fluffy marketing language. What a waste of time.
I want to change that by getting to the bottom of things: fleshing out pertinent details, sharing what really matters and explaining things simply and clearly. Taking a scalpel and cutting things down to size, so to speak.
Clearly Tech represents my effort on this front.
Who are you, Paul?
Why, I forgot to introduce myself. How rude of me.
My name is Paul Mah, just another chap who got entranced by technology as a teenager. I started my career as an IT professional, writing some code, setting up enterprise servers, and dabbling in networking. An ordinary IT employee climbing the ranks.
Then everything changed. Turns out I enjoy writing.
I collected my last monthly pay cheque in 2009, joining the gig economy before they invented the term. This became my full-time job. Over the years, I've written for local and regional broadsheets, trade media outlets, and consumer tech publications. You might recognise some of them: PC World, TechRepublic, Computerworld - and many others. I continue writing editorially to this day.
These days, I’m a solopreneur helping top brands in the enterprise IT, cybersecurity, cloud, data centre, DBMS, and data science space with their content. I advise them on content strategy, craft strategic content, and work on content initiatives that move the needle for their organisations.
Why be a paid subscriber
You don’t have to. Everything is free right now. I expect to make tweaks along the way, but let’s see how things go.
But I’ll be glad if you opt to be a paying subscriber.
If you enjoyed reading what I write, becoming a paid subscriber lets me know you’d like to see more content like this. It definitely goes a long way in telling me that what I’m doing here is valued.
Who knows, it might even motivate me to write more - for the cost of two cups of coffee or a fast-food lunch.
Look forward to seeing you around!
